About the RM of Dufferin
Incorporated in 1880, the Rural
Municipality of Dufferin is located in the heart of Pembina Valley
in southern Manitoba. Nine and one half townships of prime agricultural
land make the municipality ideal for agricultural diversification,
research and economic progress.
The municipality has a population of approximately
2400 residents. Dufferin is characterized by three unique geographical
features: the rolling hills to its west, the plain stretching to
the easternmost limits of the municipality, and the Boyne
River that winds almost due east through the heart of municipality.
Located in the centre of Dufferin, is
the Town of Carman with a population of 2704. Carman is a very progressive
town with a thriving and growing economy. Dufferin is accessible
by major provincial highways from all four directions. The railway
provides and extra transportation link for the municipality. The
City of Winnipeg is only 80 kilometres northeast of Dufferin and
Carman.
The RM of Dufferin offers abundant outdoor
recreation, an enjoyable and relaxed lifestyle, a temperate climate
and a supportive community.
